Designed to showcase the fascinating wildlife and stunning landscapes of northern Namibia, this safari combines three of the country's most rewarding destinations. It opens on a private game reserve close to Etosha National Park where you'll enjoy heavyweight game viewing – elephant, rhino and lion – within an exclusive environment with no queues or crowds at sightings. The exclusivity theme continues with your next accommodation, set in the remarkable scenery of the Kaokoveld and leaving just a trace of a footprint in this arid, primal but beautiful region. Here is your chance to track rare and unusual desert creatures, meet local communities as well as soak up the dazzling night skies – a Kaokoveld speciality.
The sound of thumping waves greets you at your final destination. The only accommodation in the Skeleton Coast National Park, Shipwreck Lodge is your chance to experience one of the most remote and unique destinations in Africa. Namibia's Atlantic coast is a starkly beautiful landscape of sea, sand and sky, where the beaches are littered with whale bones and lonely shipwrecks and patrolled by wandering brown hyenas and lions.
A well-balanced week with a combination of road transfers and flights between camps to save time, this tour enjoys comfortable en suite accommodation throughout. And although the accommodation lies in wild and remote settings, you still enjoy the convenience of electric lighting, Wi-Fi and battery-charging points plus excellent food. Such idyllic landscapes and comfortable accommodations make this a great choice for honeymooners and couples on a special journey, but this is a tour that also works well for a multi-generational family travelling together.
Your safari begins on the exclusive 60,000-acre (24,000-hectare) Etosha Heights Private Reserve, where you'll settle into Safarihoek Lodge for a two-night stay. Perched above the sweeping northern Namibian savannah, the lodge offers spectacular views and a warm welcome to one of the country's premier private wildlife destinations. In the afternoon, head out on your first game drive in search of elephant, lion, giraffe, and both black and white rhino before returning to the lodge for dinner under the African sky.
Spend a full day exploring the diverse landscapes of Etosha Heights. Alongside morning and afternoon game drives, the reserve offers activities not permitted in many national parks, including guided bush walks and spot-lit night drives, providing the chance to encounter nocturnal wildlife. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the lodge's professionally designed hide overlooking a flood-lit waterhole, where animals gather throughout the late afternoon and evening, creating exceptional close-up wildlife viewing opportunities.
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive west into the remote Kaokoveld, one of Namibia's most untouched and sparsely populated regions. The landscape transforms dramatically into a striking wilderness of rugged mountains, dry river valleys, towering boulders, and ancient thorn trees. Upon arrival, check in to Hoanib Valley Camp, an intimate lodge overlooking a lush ribbon of vegetation sustained by the seasonal Hoanib River. Spend the afternoon soaking up the tranquillity or join your first guided wildlife excursion before enjoying dinner beneath an unforgettable canopy of stars
Spend the day exploring the remarkable ecosystems surrounding Hoanib Valley Camp. Venture out on game drives or guided walks in search of the region's famous desert-adapted elephants, giraffes, and lions, species uniquely adapted to survive in this harsh environment. You may also have the opportunity to explore alongside a local Himba guide, gaining insight into the traditions and way of life of one of Namibia's most iconic communities. As night falls, relax beneath some of Africa's clearest skies, where the absence of light pollution makes stargazing an unforgettable experience.
Today, travel through ever-changing desert landscapes to your final destination—Shipwreck Lodge, the only lodge located within Skeleton Coast National Park. Inspired by the shipwrecks that line this legendary coastline, the lodge offers a unique blend of contemporary comfort and dramatic wilderness. Settle into your beautifully designed suite overlooking the Atlantic Ocean before heading out to explore this stark landscape where sea, sand, and sky merge on the horizon. Keep an eye out for wildlife uniquely adapted to this coastal environment, including the elusive brown hyena.
Spend a full day discovering one of Africa's most remote and captivating regions. Join guided excursions in search of the Skeleton Coast's fascinating wildlife, explore towering dunes, or enjoy adventure activities such as quad biking and sandboarding across the desert. Between excursions, return to the comfort of Shipwreck Lodge, where your en suite suite features a cosy wood-burning stove, solar-powered lighting, Wi-Fi, and charging facilities. As the day ends, savour another spectacular sunset over the Atlantic before your final night in this extraordinary wilderness.
This tour ends after breakfast at Shipwreck Lodge. Please ask us about your onward travel arrangements and any extensions to the itinerary you may like to consider.
Following breakfast, transfer to Doro Nawas Airstrip for your charter flight to the remote Serra Cafema Camp in Kaokoland. After a scenic flight and a short 4×4 transfer through the desert, arrive at one of Namibia's most secluded safari camps, beautifully positioned along the Kunene River. Spend the afternoon settling into your luxury tent before joining a guided nature drive to explore the striking landscapes of volcanic rock, rolling dunes, and unique desert wildlife. Dinner and overnight will be enjoyed at the camp.
