After breakfast, transfer to Wilson Airport for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Samburu National Reserve, located in Kenya’s rugged northern frontier.Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will be met by camp staff and transferred to your lodge or tented camp. Enjoy lunch followed by time to relax before heading out on your first afternoon game drive.Samburu is famous for its unique “Samburu Special Five” — Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk — along with excellent elephant sightings.
Spend a full day on game drives in Samburu, taking time to explore the reserve’s striking landscapes of rocky outcrops, dry riverbeds, and acacia-dotted plains. Samburu is known for its uniquely adapted northern wildlife, often referred to as the “Samburu Special Five,” which include the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and the gerenuk—an antelope that stands on its hind legs to browse. Spend the day on full-day game drives in the Masai Mara, exploring its vast plains and diverse habitats that are home to an incredible concentration of wildlife. You’ll have excellent opportunities to encounter the Big Five lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino, along with cheetahs, hippos, giraffes, and a variety of plains game and birdlife. Your guide will take you to some of the best wildlife viewing areas, and you may stop at scenic spots to enjoy the sweeping views of the savannah.
Another full day of game drives in the Masai Mara allows you to delve deeper into the reserve, exploring different regions and ecosystems that you may not have seen the previous day. With your guide, you’ll track wildlife movements, follow predator activity, and visit scenic riverbanks where hippos and crocodiles often gather. Each game drive offers new surprises, from witnessing dramatic predator–prey interactions to observing the quieter moments of animal life on the open plains. After an early breakfast, check out from the lodge and transfer to the nearby airstrip for your return flight to Nairobi. You’ll arrive by midday or early afternoon, allowing time for onward travel or one more night in the city.
